As I write this, we are into the final days of preparation to celebrate Christmas 2020, which is going to make this a different week as far as readings goes. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we’re reading six more chapters from Joshua as the division of the promised land continues. For the second part of the week, I’m going to pause the study, and you’ll see below that for Thursday, Friday & Saturday, I’d encourage you to read the readings for Mass (at the very least, look at the Gospel for each day). In the midst of so much this year being cancelled, sidelined, postponed, etc, the reality is that the heart of what we celebrate at Christmas – the birth of Jesus, Emmanuel, “God with us” – this hope cannot be cancelled.
If you’re reading this later on, this will be a lighter week – a good chance to get caught up if you’ve fallen a little behind.
Here’s the lineup of readings for the week:
- Monday: Joshua 14-15
- Tuesday: Joshua 16-18
- Wednesday: Joshua 19-20
- Thursday: Christmas Vigil Mass Readings (take note of the fact that some of the names from Jesus’ geneaology may mean more to you now!)
- Friday: Christmas Morning Mass readings
- Saturday: Readings for the feast of St. Stephen
- Sunday: Readings for the feast of the Holy Family
